International Healthcare Opportunities Clearinghouse (IHOC)

The International Healthcare Opportunities Clearinghouse (IHOC) web site is designed for healthcare professionals and students who are interested in volunteer work with underserved communities at home or abroad. The IHOC website was begun in 1996 by a small group of faculty members and students from the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School, Worcester, Massachusetts. IHOC is an ongoing project maintained by the Lamar Soutter Medical Library, UMass Chan Medical School.

Students at UMass Chan Medical School should contact the International Medical Education Program for current opportunities in the Global Health Pathway (GHP).

International Service Learning (ISL)

ISL runs a range of medical programs for both students and professionals with focuses in global health, dentistry, medicine, nursing, optometry, pharmacy, and physical therapy.
Medical Missions Kenya (MMK)

MMK mobilizes medical volunteers to lend their services during two-week medical missions to Kenya. Teams are comprised of volunteer physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other health professionals.

MTI works to serve people affected by disaster, conflict, and poverty around the world.
Mercy Ships

Mercy ships operates a fleet of hospital ships that provide health services and perform free surgeries where needed medical care is otherwise inaccessible.
Operation Smile

Operation Smile medical programs rely on volunteer medical professionals to perform safe clef surgeries in resource-limited environments.

Surgical Eye Expeditions (SEE) International

Volunteer ophthalmic surgeons participate in small surgical mission teams to provide medical and educational services to underserved communities, helping to restore sight and prevent blindness.
