Library Mission Statement

The Lamar Soutter Library (LSL) is a cornerstone of the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School and University of Massachusetts Memorial Health Care systems. The library is an essential partner exercising creative leadership to provide equitable service to all in teaching, learning, and accessing information in support of education, research, and healthcare.

Vision

We will realize this mission by committing to a values-driven, diverse, and inclusive approach to service, education, research, and healthcare literacy that will support and advance the University of Massachusetts’ and University of Massachusetts Memorial Health Care’s shared strategic mission.

We will be a library that challenges our staff to seek and embrace new methods and tools in mastering their professional skills in order to meet the evolving nature of healthcare education, to help prepare the students for further study and successful careers, and to provide meaningful contributions to their communities and the world.
