"Burned Stories" an Art Exhibit by Brett Poza

Exhibiting November 4 – December 31, 2019

For the last four years, Brett Poza has focused her art work on nature, from imperfect old trees to disasters, imagining the hardships that nature endures. Using large wood panels as a canvas, Brett uses pyrographic techniques, water-based inks and non-toxic chemicals to create this exhibit which is fittingly titled Burned Stories.

According to the CDC, there were 39,773 firearm deaths in the United States in 2017. Is understanding the biological, psychological, racial, ethnic, cultural factors, and addressing the lethal impact of gun culture in America enough to stop gun violence?

The site was developed as a space for pausing and processing amidst the grind of long study days or buzz of a busy clinic, with the hope of supporting, nourishing, and connecting the UMMS community. The Library invites you to visit the Bright Horizons children’s art exhibit. This enchanting little people’s art exhibit emulates famous artists such as Jackson Pollock and Vincent van Gogh. Through the eyes of each child, each discovers and creates images and sculpture both whimsical and beautiful.

Interlibrary Loan Upgrade (ILLiad)

The library is upgrading ILLiad, our Interlibrary loan software, on Tuesday, January 15 beginning at 10:00 a.m. As part of this upgrade, the next time you log into ILLiad to place or review your Interlibrary loan requests, you will be prompted to change your password. As a reminder, your username is your library barcode number. The new password requires at least eight characters, with at least one lowercase letter, one uppercase letter, and one number.

New Face at the Ask an Expert Series

Graphic Medicine: Ill-Conceived and Well-Drawn
