Lamar Soutter Library welcomes Melissa Augustine as the newest member of the Education and Clinical Services Department. She will work not only with students, faculty, and clinicians, but she will also work closely with the Diversity and Inclusion Office and the Office of Health Equity on DEI initiatives.

Melissa brings a unique set of skills to the library. She has significant clinical experience, having worked for several years as a registered nurse. Combined with library skills and a passion for DEI, Melissa is sure to be a great asset to all at UMass Chan and UMass Memorial.

The library is migrating to a new website platform for eScholarship@UMassChan, which will bring substantial benefits in searching, submission, workflow, and efficiency.  On Wednesday, September 14, 2022, URLs for content in eScholarship will redirect to the new website: https://repository.escholarship.umassmed.edu/

Medical School electrical testing, September 19, 2022

There will be a scheduled test of the school electrical switch gear on September 19th, beginning at 4:00 a.m. and ending at 7:00 a.m. This testing will cause momentary power interruptions. This may impact lighting in the building. Staff who will be present in the building are advised to have a flashlight, and/or cell phone fully charged in the event that the lighting remains off. No elevators will be operational during this test.

Testing will take place in the main Medical School building only and will not affect the Hospital, Lazare Research Building or Albert Sherman Center.

Upcoming floor maintenance may affect the Library

Beginning Friday evening, August 26th, Facilities will be performing floor maintenance in the A-level Animal Medicine Department for an upcoming inspection. This maintenance will include use of an epoxy or latex paint application to the floor surfaces. The work will be conducted consecutive Fridays on the second shift until complete.

There is a potential for odors related to this work being noticed in the Library, beginning late on Friday and continuing throughout the weekend. The odors should dissipate by Monday morning.
