Scholarly work by Library staff on display

Our Library Staff will begin to display our various posters and other scholarly works by the printers in the Library. First in the rotation is from our Research & Scholarly Communication Librarians: Sally Gore, Lisa Palmer, Tess Grynoch, and Leah Honor. “Research output of Morningside Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences faculty: A visual review” will be on display for the next few weeks.

LSL Gives Back – ScholComm Edition

On October 18th, the Research & Scholarly Communications Services Department held their annual retreat. The morning was dedicated to a service project, where we had the opportunity to volunteer at the Loaves & Fishes food pantry in Devens, MA. Tess and Leah helped prepare grocery bag bundles containing the pantry basics and shelf stable components of each food pick up, while Lisa, Kris, and Robert helped sort and organize incoming donations from individuals, local food drives, and partnering supermarkets.

Lamar Soutter Library welcomes Melissa Augustine as the newest member of the Education and Clinical Services Department. She will work not only with students, faculty, and clinicians, but she will also work closely with the Diversity and Inclusion Office and the Office of Health Equity on DEI initiatives.

Melissa brings a unique set of skills to the library. She has significant clinical experience, having worked for several years as a registered nurse. Combined with library skills and a passion for DEI, Melissa is sure to be a great asset to all at UMass Chan and UMass Memorial.

The Network of the National Library of Medicine welcomes Bennie Finch to our staff as an Education and Outreach Coordinator. Bennie completed a MLIS at Southern Connecticut State University in May and also holds a MSW. She joins librarianship after working as a social worker with children, families, and early childhood education for a number of years.

The Network of the National Library of Medicine is thrilled to welcome Sean Corning to our team as an Education and Outreach Coordinator. This position combines Sean’s instructional, academic research, and medicinal chemistry interests with librarianship.

Sean recently completed his MS in Library and Information Sciences in May and has a MA in Chemistry. Sean is active in the American Library Association.
