The Lamar Soutter Library adds its congratulations to UMass Chan researcher Victor Ambros, PhD, for winning the 2024 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. Dr. Ambros shares the prize with his colleague Gary Ruvkun, PhD, for their discovery of microRNA.

The Gerald F. Berlin Prize is awarded for creative writing, prose, or poetry, authored by students, nursing students, graduate students, residents, and fellows based at UMass Chan Medical School, Berkshire Medical Center, Worcester Medical Center/St. Vincent's, or Baystate Medical Center.

The HiM Committee of Lamar Soutter Library and Dr. Richard Berlin invite you to the award ceremony and readings of poetry and creative writings by fellow UMMS medical, nursing, doctoral students, residents, and Fellows. The Gerald F. Berlin Creative Writing Award is funded by a donation from Richard M. Berlin, MD, a poet, and Instructor in Psychiatry at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.
