There will be a high level of noise in the Library beginning on Wednesday, March 1 ending by Thursday, March 2 at 8:00 a.m. Headphones and earplugs are available at the Library Service Point on the 1st floor.
Due to 2nd-floor clinical wing construction, there will be a high level of noise in the Library all day and through the evening on Monday, February 20. Headphones and earplugs are available at the Library Service Point on the 1st floor.
UMass Chan IT department will be performing the Wi-Fi network upgrade for the new access point units that were recently installed in the Library. The cutover to the new network is planned for this Friday, March 4 at 6:00 p.m. IT will have staff and vendors onsite to support the cutover.
Users will be required to reconnect and accept the new network once IT completes the cutover.
The Library Wi-Fi upgrade project continues this weekend (December 11-12) with work taking place on the 3rd floor from 6:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Please plan accordingly.
Also, installation of Wi-Fi units on the 1st floor still needs to be completed.
There may be significant noise while this work is occurring. Ear protection is available from the Library Service Point on the first floor.
Wi-Fi service in the Library will be upgraded on three consecutive weekends from 6:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. The dates are:
- First floor: November 20-21
- Third floor: November 27-28
- Second floor: December 4-5
There will be significant noise at times and Wi-Fi connection disruptions on the specified floor. Ear protection is available from the Library Service Point on the first floor. Please plan your day accordingly.
The next phase of the Library Skylight Replacement Project will take place beginning Monday, November 1 at 6:00 a.m. New lighting will be installed over the central portion of the first floor. Construction of scaffolding for the skylight replacement project is scheduled to begin on Monday, June 28 Wednesday, June 30. Noise levels in the Library during this time will be very high, although the work will be performed during off-hours as much as possible. There will also be a noise meter and signs placed near the Library entrance.
Starting July 2021, the three skylights situated above the main seating section of the Library (curved couch, large tables, and outside the computer classroom) will be replaced. Scaffolding and safety barriers will be installed in July, and work is expected to continue into mid-August. All three skylights will be removed and reinstalled with a new energy efficient skylight system.
The Library will be undergoing a bit of destructive demolition on the skylights beginning at 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 13. Work will continue until 4:00 p.m. We apologize for the noise, but repairs are needed and improvements are on the way!

Please note that the library 1st and 2nd floor areas where electrical work occurred will be patched and painted by Facilities on January 14-15, 2020. There may be paint odor in the library on those days.
