There will be two outages this week affecting the Library:
There will be a power loss due to required installation of permanent electrical feeds from the new electrical substations on June 8, 2022, beginning at 10:00 p.m. There will be a power outage at the start of the maintenance window as the Load Panels are powered with their new power source.
This work will impact the lighting in the following locations: Loading Dock, Clinical Parking Lot, Morgue Ramp, and the Library Parking lot at the Medical School.
This weekend UMass Chan Information Technology will be conducting significant migrations and upgrades to the campus data core. The work is scheduled to begin Saturday, May 21 at 9 p.m. and is expected to last several hours.

In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, the Library is exhibiting selections from its collection. The list of e-books and print books is available at https://libraryguides.umassmed.edu/book-displays/may-22-mham. Print books are on display throughout the first floor of the Library.
The IT department will be updating the Wi-Fi network in the Library tonight, May 3 for approximately 2 hours, beginning at 9:00 p.m., to resolve a connectivity issue for MacBook users.
Updates will be performed on one Wi-Fi device at a time. Users will lose connectivity when a device is being updated, which takes approximately 15 minutes per device.
The new UMass Chan Wi-Fi network has been experiencing intermittent problems in the Library and in other school areas. UMass Chan IT and the Wi-Fi vendor would like to survey Library users to get additional information about these issues – this will help the vendor to resolve the problems quickly.

UMass Chan IT department will be performing the Wi-Fi network upgrade for the new access point units that were recently installed in the Library. The cutover to the new network is planned for this Friday, March 4 at 6:00 p.m. IT will have staff and vendors onsite to support the cutover.
Users will be required to reconnect and accept the new network once IT completes the cutover.
The Library Wi-Fi upgrade project continues this weekend (December 11-12) with work taking place on the 3rd floor from 6:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Please plan accordingly.
Also, installation of Wi-Fi units on the 1st floor still needs to be completed.
There may be significant noise while this work is occurring. Ear protection is available from the Library Service Point on the first floor.
