Exhibiting April 3 - May 30, 2018
Parijata believes being outside is good for the soul as reflected through her art, “I bring the inside out and outside in”. Looking at Parijata’s creations, one can capture a serene sense of the artist, her surroundings, and her talent as she translates the positive energy of nature, and fittingly titled her exhibition “A Picture of Serenity”.
Parijata’s formal training started with Undergraduate studies in Fine Arts and onto higher education in textile design with specialization in printing. After two years in the textile industry, she attended the National Institute of Design and obtained a Masters in Design. Before starting as a full time artist and freelance designer, Parijata worked in the textile and toy industries and has since created a brand name called ‘I Felt Design Studio’ (registered in 2016). In addition to exhibiting for Nine-dot gallery-(Human Component), Worcester Pop up, and Shataro Art Gallery, she has participated in many craft shows including StArt at the Station, Spirit of Shrewsbury Fall Festival, and the UMass, International Craft Fair.
The artist states that she is highly influenced by the work of Vincent Van Gogh and his lifetime dedication to art, along with inspiration from Andy Warhol who was never restricted to one style.
Parijata is an active member of the Board of Directors for Pronoia Art Alliance, Worcester. Her husband Rohit is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Pharmacology at UMass Medical School.
