To ensure continued access to high-quality resources and support the evolving needs of the UMass Chan community, the Lamar Soutter Library (LSL) is optimizing its resource management strategies. Our top priority is to make it as simple as possible for users to request full-text access to articles, book chapters, and books not currently in our library collection.

As of January 2026, we are pleased to introduce a new request service: Article Galaxy Scholar (AGS). AGS is an article delivery service designed to provide rapid access to a selection of titles not covered by LSL subscriptions. For items not available through AGS, users may request them through Interlibrary Loan at no cost.

Quick Overview of the AGS Service:

• AGS is available to UMass Chan Faculty, Students, Staff, Residents, Fellows, and Post Docs.
• The AGS request option will appear in the Library Catalog for eligible users.
• Requests must be placed using an @umassmed.edu email.
• Each UMass Chan user can submit up to 10 requests per month; after that limit has been reached users will be re-directed to the interlibrary loan service.
• Article Galaxy Scholar (AGS) is not available for Baystate, Lahey, and Clinical users.
• Each UMass Chan user can submit up to 10 requests per month; after that limit has been reached users will be re-directed to the interlibrary loan service.
