The 2024 NIH Public Access Policy, originally scheduled to take effect December 31, 2025, was changed to July 1, 2025. All author accepted manuscripts (the final, peer-reviewed version) resulting from NIH-funded research on or after July 1, 2025, must be made freely available in PubMed Central (PMC) immediately at the time of publication. The current 12-month embargo period allowed for depositing manuscripts into PMC will no longer be allowed.
