Lillian R. Goodman, EdD, RN appointed second Dean. First Adult Acute/Critical Care Nurse Practitioner/Clinical Specialist specialty in UMass system initiated. Geriatric Subspecialty established in collaboration with Fallon Elder Care.
Nurse Practitioner Attending Collaborative Service (NPACS) implemented with the Department of Medicine.
National League for Nursing grants accreditation for eight years. First PhD candidates in nursing program graduate. Cancer Prevention and Control Education subspecialty established.
Dean Goodman retires and establishes an endowed chair. Becomes Dean and Professor, Emeritus. Correctional/Institutional Nursing subspecialty introduced.
Doreen C. Harper, PhD, RN, FAAN appointed third Dean.
Advanced Practice Nurse Educator specialty established. Worcester Nursing Pipeline Consortium established to address nursing shortage through a collaborative of nursing programs, health care systems, schools and community organizations in Central Massachusetts. Funded by a grant from the Fairlawn Foundation, this collaborative included UMass GSN, Worcester State College, and Quinsigamond Community College. Atlantic Union College, Becker, Anna Maria, and Fitchburg State were also invited to participate. Center for Nursing Excellence. Nurse Practitioner Council was initiated by a partnership between the clinical system and the GSN.
Dual-track Adult Nurse Practitioner/Gerontological Nurse Practitioner and Acute Critical Care Nurse Practitioner/Gerontological Nurse Practitioner specialties initiated, funded by a grant from HRSA.
First Graduate Entry Pathway (GEP) in UMass system developed at UMW GSN.
First GEP class admitted.
Paulette Seymour-Route, PhD, RN named interim Dean. First year of the independent PhD program. Initial Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accreditation awarded to the Masters Program of the GSN. First GEP Pinning Ceremony.
