Temporary Policy Changes and Expanded Services Effective August 3, 2020 (revised June 3, 2021)

General Policies and Hours
Adherence to the UMass Chan social distancing guidelines (https://www.umassmed.edu/coronavirus/) is expected
Everyone entering the Library will be required to wear a mask at all times
Library Service Desk will be staffed Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
Eligible UMass Chan/UMMHC badge access only to enter the library (24/7)
Identification badges must be worn at all times
Please clean work areas before and after use
No outside visitors or members of the public are allowed in the Library
Computer classroom will be closed until further notice
The first and second floors of the Library can be used for studying and for Zoom calls, however, the third floor of the Library is strictly for quiet study. Please, no Zoom, phone use, or socializing on the third floor
Reference Services
Ask-A-Librarian service: will be staffed Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., and as needed other times
One-on-one or group appointments will be booked with a librarian and conducted via Zoom
All library instruction will be booked and conducted using Zoom
Archives and Rare Book Room
Researchers wishing to use archival materials should contact the Archivist by email or by telephone at 508-856-2204
Food and Beverages
No food is allowed in library
Beverages are allowed in non-spill containers such as travel mugs, water bottles, etc.
Keurig Station will be available: BYO beverage container, K Cups, sweetener/milk. No teapot, please use the Keurig hot water feature
Study Carrels, Group Study Rooms, Workstations, and Public and Clinical Computers
Reservations for a study carrel can be made through the online, self-service reservation system. See the complete Library Study Carrel Reservation Policy for guidelines and frequently asked questions.
Masks are always required while using carrels, group study rooms, and new workstations, pods, computers, and other study spaces
Please do not leave food, books, or other items of personal value in the carrels
There will be one whiteboard marker in each carrel available for use. It will be up to the carrel user to clean this marker. Additional whiteboard markers and erasers will be placed at the cleaning stations on each floor
Computer workstations have reusable keyboard covers
Please clean work areas before and after use
White Boards
White board markers will be placed at cleaning stations, please wipe them before and after use. The table will be cleaned and replenished by library staff
Printing is free. Please go to the Library Service Desk for assistance. Printing instructions
Print Collections and Anatomical Models
Books will be aired for 3 days before being returned to shelf. If unable to locate a print book, please go to Service Desk
Please return reserve books to the Service Desk after use
Please clean anatomical models before and after use
Please place all other books on one of the book trucks
