NCMETV™ is a monthly series of professionally produced CME video programs on important
state-mandated and other topics of
interest to practicing clinicians. The library has subscribed to these for many years as videocassettes and, more recently, as DVDs.
Now they are available online for registered library users and can be accessed 24/7. Several types of CME credit are
available for those who complete a self-assessment quiz.

The library pays all the necessary copyright fees for the articles supplied via the Loansome Doc service. Due to increases in copyright
fees, we find it necessary to increase our charge to $25.00 per article, with a surcharge of $5.00 for material held at other
institutions. This price increase will go into effect on January 1, 2008.

David Loxterkamp, M.D., will be speaking on the topic, "A Storied Life: Why Words Matter in Medicine." Copies of his book A Measure
of My Days: The Journal of a Country Doctor will also be available for purchase and signing.

David Loxterkamp, M.D. is a family physician from Belfast, Maine, where he has lived for 23 years with his wife, Lindsay, and their two children. His stories and essays have appeared in the New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of the American Medical Association and the British Medical Journal. He has written popularly for America Magazine, Commonweal and the Boston Globe Sunday Magazine. His work as a family physician was the subject of a Life Magazine photoessay in 1998 and an NBC Nightline documentary in 2000.
Dr. Loxterkamp has authored A Measure of My Days: The Journal of a Country Doctor (University of New England Press, 1997) and contributed to two anthologies, A Life in Medicine, edited by Robert Coles and Randy Testa (The New Press, 2002) and Professions of Face, edited by James Martin and Jeremy Langford (Sheed & Ward, 2002). He is currently writing a book on pilgrimage.
