Matteo Farinella, Ph.D., from Columbia University will be presenting “The Potential of Comics in Science Communication” on Thursday, October 18, 2:30-3:30pm in the Lazare Auditorium (S1-607).

In conjunction with Lamar Soutter Library hosting the National Library of Medicine exhibit, Graphic Medicine: Ill-Conceived and Well-Drawn, author and neurobiologist, Matteo Farinella, will be speaking about the use of comics and visual narratives in science and medical communication to the broader public.

Matteo Farinella is a Presidential Scholar in Society and Neuroscience at Columbia University and is the author of Neurocomic, Cervellopoli, and The Senses. Neurocomic and The Senses can both be found in the library’s book collection. Working with science journalists, educators and cognitive neuroscientists, Dr. Farinella aims to understand how these tools may affect the public perception of science and increase scientific literacy.
