A small group of MAHSLIN members is now at work on a Home Page for MAHSLIN in a format that will mirror Web pages of other, similar organizations. The Executive Board of MAHSLIN has approved that the initial contents of the Home Page will include a description of MAHSLIN, its mission statement, a list of Executive Board Members and Committee Chairs with their e-mail addresses, membership, annual meeting, continuing education, and Union List purchase information. As the construction process proceeds, other elements will be added, such as the By-Laws, the Lending Library list, a directory of members, links to other home pages, and a calendar of upcoming events of other library and information associations.
The principle component of the MAHSLIN Home Page project is the publication of the MAHSLIN Network News online. This abridged edition is the first in the slow process of converting to electronic format. Because the Board is acutely aware that not every member has access to the World Wide Web, the newsletter will be published in Netscape format both on the MAHSLIN Home Page and in a printed (albeit photocopied) and mailed version for approximately a year. On the 1997 MAHSLIN membership renewal form, members will be asked to indicate if they would like to continue to receive a mailed copy of the newsletter.

This inaugural issue of the electronic edition of the MAHSLIN Network News was produced by its new co-editors, Joseph Harzbecker, Reference Coordinator, Alumni Medical Library, Boston University School of Medicine, and Anita B. Loscalzo, Research Librarian, Whitaker Cardiovascular Institute, Boston University School of Medicine. Last autumn, after three years of dedicated service to producing the MAHSLIN Network News, Patrick Brennen decided to pass on his editorial pen, beginning with the spring issue. Patrick has provided the membership with an on-time scheduled quarterly publication since May 1993. During that time, the newsletter expanded in size, was enhanced in format and font type, changed paper color, and accepted commercial advertisements so as to reduce costs to the membership. The new editors hope to continue the features introduced by Patrick, such as the profiles of Massachusetts health sciences libraries, the "people" column, and the calendar of upcoming conferences. We all thank Patrick for the fine job he has done for MAHSLIN and wish him well in his future endeavors.

is the mailing list (listserv) of the Massachusetts Health Sciences Library Network. Those who are already subscribers find it to be an easy way to "get the word out" to fellow MAHSLIN members and an invaluable source of information on continuing education opportunities and conferences [thanks to Debbie Sibley, our Education Committee Chair].
