University of Massachusetts Medical School awarded NCLIS Blue Ribbon Consumer Health Information Recognition Award

On Thursday October 7, 2004, Aaron Lazare, MD, Chancellor/Dean, and Elaine R. Martin, Director of Library Services accepted the United States National Commission on Libraries and Information Science Blue Ribbon Consumer Health Information Recognition Award on behalf of the Lamar Soutter Library of the University of Massachusetts Medical School.

The event was held at 11:30 a.m. in the Lamar Soutter Library. The event concluded with a reception attended by librarians from the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioner and the Massachusetts Regional Library System.

The award honors the Lamar Soutter Library for programs providing essential health-related information to patients and others interested in patient care. The award was presented by Commissioner Edward L. Bertorelli on behalf of the United States National Commission on Libraries and Information Science.
