Information Literacy Librarian/Assistant Archivist
The Lamar Soutter Library at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Worcester, MA
GENERAL SUMMARY OF THE POSITION:
Reporting to the Head of the Office of Medical History and Archives, this position is responsible for providing both general and specialized reference services to the UMMS community, organizing document processing workflow, processing archival materials and other special collections, and supporting user access by developing electronic and other forms of communication and liaison to UMMS and public patrons.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists with collection development: acquiring, appraising, arranging, describing, preserving, managing.
- Staffs the Rare Book Room.
- Promotes the Library web site with web exhibits, digitization, and online finding aids.
- Assists with liaison activities to Public Affairs and other Administrative offices.
- Supervises interns and hourly staff.
- Assists in providing support services to visiting scholars.
- May perform other job-related duties as required or requested.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- ALA-accredited Master's Degree in Library Science
- Three years of relevant job experience in Archives/Special Collections preferred
- Ability to maintain a high degree of familiarity with new technologies such as databases, online bibliographies, and online finding aids.
- Ability to create web-based exhibitions and other instructional tools.
Starting salary commensurate with experience.
