opportunity to talk with individuals as well as have them develop a special
project as part of a library school program. Will mentor through the
project. In addition, as an active member of the Hospital Library Section of
MLA (Editor, National Network - the HLS newsletter; former Secretary of
Section), glad to talk with individuals about that, too. There are
opportunities to create a special project focusing on patient issues,
serving patients & families. Our hospital is a "special"
environment and individuals interested in seeing the variety of opportunities that
exist within the healthcare spectrum will find it an interesting
counterpoint to acute care hospitals. |

is a not-for-profit, general, acute care, private hospital providing patient
care to medical, surgical, pediatric, rehab, psychiatric and obstetrical
patients.
The Library is staffed by a full-time Library
Manager and a part-time Library Technician. The Library's collection
includes over 400 journals, a core reference collection, online databases,
an online catalog, and computer workstations for library users. The
collection also includes an employee wellness collection,
leadership/management collection, and college catalogs. The Library is
located in a high-traffic area across from the cafeteria and down the hall
from the doctors' lounge. |

Ryan Matura Library is the main library for Sacred Heart University. The
library has 131,000 volumes, over 900 journal subscription and access to 57
online databases. The library is staffed by 10 FTE librarians and 9 clerical
staff. Among many undergraduate and graduate degrees offered are Masters
degrees in Nursing, Occupational Therapy and a Doctorate in Physical
Therapy. A baccalaureate degree in Human Movement & Exercise Science is
also offered. |
